What was I thinking!
My father-in-law was working in Dundee a few weeks ago and saw a cute little puppy wandering around with no collar or leash. He pulled his truck over, picked the puppy and then proceeded to knock on a few doors to see if the people were missing a puppy or new of anyone that had a puppies. After knocking on a few doors my father-in-law decided to keep the pup and take her home.As soon as my wife and kids heard of a puppy being found they immediately stated to get that ‘we need another dog’ look in their eyes. And because my father-in-law was not going to keep the pup, Liz and I decided to give the pup a chance in our home and see if there was a fit. What was I thinking, of course everyone wanted the puppy and everyone would pitch in and help take care of the puppy.
Without delay as we brought the little pup home my wife and kids melted and fell in love with her. And after a couple days we decided to tell our children that we would keep the puppy under one condition and that condition is that ‘everyone would help take care of this little puppy’. Everyone agreed, even me, and so it is official. We now have four children (three girls and one boy) two dogs (one boy and one girl).
And after a few weeks of having this little pup what do I think, well don’t ask. I thought when my children grew up that sleepless nights would be over and that changing dirty diapers would finally be done. Well, once again what was I thinking! Having a little puppy around is like having a little child. You have to constantly be watching her to make sure she doesn’t chew on anything she is not suppose to or to make sure that she doesn’t go to the bathroom on wherever she feels.Seriously, I really love animals but I really hate the work. I know eventually the little pup will grow up and be a great little dog, but for right now she is a pain in the rear.
BTW, my family decided to name this little pup “Peanut”. If you know my wife you can imagine her saying P-E-A-A-A-A-N-U-T.
