From time to time my job allows me to travel this most wonderful country and this last week was no exception.
Monday night I left DTW (Detroit Metro Airport - for those of you none freq. flyers) to LAX (LA) for a meeting with our west coast clients. The very next night (Tuesday) I flew out to Seattle. What a beautiful site from the air. As I looked through the tiny window to my left I saw one of the most beautiful sites I’ve ever seen from the air, God’s creation unfettered...

A few of the 'boyz' and I from work have been reading John Piper's book "The Pleasures of God". The most enlightening chapter that I've read so far has been the chapter 3, "The Pleasures of God in His creation". This chapter really made me take a better look at what God created and enjoy its beauty, just as God enjoys it. John gives an example of how God created creatures that only He can enjoy. "...the European water spider that lives at the bottom of a lake, but breathes air. It comes to the top of the water, does a somersault on the surface and catches a bubble of air. Then it holds the bubble over the breathing holes in the middle of its body while it swims to the bottom of the lake and spins a silk web among the seaweed. It goes up and bring down bubble after bubble until a little balloon of air is formed under its silk web where it can live and eat and mate (Piper, p. 90-91)." After reading this I wanted to praise God more and more, I'm sure if you could have seen my face on the plane it would have been of pure joy and happiness, I could hardly sustain my joy. How awesome a God we have that He has created such beautiful things all around us for everyone to enjoy.
"How many are your works, O LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures." Psalm 104:24
I will post more from John Piper’s book “The Pleasures of God” later.
