Jackie has left the building!

Last night we had a celebration/going away party for my brother Jackie. Jackie is a Lance Corporal Marine (click here for more information on Marine rankings) headed to Iraq to defend our country and uphold the law in a land where freedom is a novelty. It seems odd to us, as free citizens, to have to defend our freedom at such a high price.

Several people may question the purpose of American’s fighting a war that doesn’t seem to be our own. I couldn’t disagree more. It is our duty to protect the weak and at the same time we are protecting our own land. I thank the Lord for people like my brother that are willing to give their lives for people like you and me. Our country wouldn’t be where it is today had it not been for our forefathers willingness to give of their lives for our freedom. As William Wallace once said, “They May Take Our Lives, But They Can Never Take Our Freedom!” I’m not sure how much of this is folk lour, but the point is still the same.

I can’t help but to think that the passion that we have for our country should only be magnified compared to the passion we have for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But I digress.

We had a great time last night; I truly enjoy myself when all our families get together. It seems that we have so much fun, sorry Scott and Susan (wish you were here).
Here is a picture of Jackie after boot camp.
