In the Valley

When I have heard phrases of "being in the valley" or "going through the valley" I have always thought of major trials...extreme trials. It has been just recently that my thoughts on that have changed. I have found that as a wife and mother, I experience "the valleys" quite frequently. Sometimes more than others. Would I choose to go through some of these "small trials"? NO!
But I was reminded just recently in a beautiful song that it is through the valleys that we can glorify God! When I'm tempted to want to run the other way and not deal with some of the "issues" that come with being a wife and a mom, I need to see these as opportunities to bring glory to my Lord!.....It is in the second by second choices(literally) that I make. Sometimes with those choices comes humbling(which I need more of!) And then having the comfort of....like the song states so beautifully that He is near with every breath~In the valley!
Knowing that the nearness of the Lord is with me...not just in the major valleys that I may have to walk into one day, but in the daily valleys that I walk EVERY day. Thank you Lord for the small valleys......it draws me closer to You.

When You lead me to the valley of vision
I can see You in the heights
And though my humbling wouldn’t be my decision
It’s here Your glory shines so bright
So let me learn that the cross precedes the crown
To be low is to be high
That the valley’s where You make me more like Christ

Let me find Your grace in the valley
Let me find Your life in my death
Let me find Your joy in my sorrow
Your wealth in my need
That You’re near with every breath
In the valley

In the daytime there are stars in the heavens
But they only shine at night
And the deeper that I go into darkness
The more I see their radiant light
So let me learn that my losses are my gain
To be broken is to heal
That the valley’s where Your power is revealed
