Baseball, Birthday, and more Baseball!

If you know the Elwart family (at the least the AP Elwart's) you know we love baseball.  These last couple of weeks we have been blessed with opportunities to attend a few Detroit Tigers baseball games.  One of these games was an away game (Jacob's Field).

In addition, this past week Elizabeth had a birthday (9/3).  I'm not going to tell you that she's 32 years old, because she really doesn't want people to know how old she is ;)  Seriously, I am so thankful to the Lord for a wonderful wife.  They say that a good woman is hard to find...well I really found one.

Jacob, Jonathan, Zachery and I had the opportunity to go to the Detroit Tigers game in Cleveland at Jacob's field.  It was my first time in an opposing teams baseball field and it was awesome!  It was pretty cool to see all the Tiger fans at such a momentous game.  It was probably one of the most memorable games I've ever attended.  The game was tied 2-2 and went into extra innings.  Detroit scored in the top of the tenth to end up winning 6-2.  Here are some pictures taken from the game.

This picture is a drawing that Zack drew.  This drawing was drawn at school.  I thought it was surprisingly accurate.  Check out all the players facial expressions.  He didn't get every single players number correct, however he did manage to get most of them correct.

This is the picture of the cake the kids made for Elizabeth's birthday.  They're so creative!

One of Elizabeth's birthday presents was two tickets to the Tigers game on Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox's.  The game started at 7:05 and we arrived around 5:30 to catch the Sox's hitting batting practice.  In the rush of getting the kids ready for the next day of school and getting out the door we forgot to bring a baseball mitt.  If we would've brought a mitt I would have caught a homerun practice ball but instead I just got two bruised thumbs :(  The game was a pretty good game but not really good since we lost 2-1.  We had a chance in the bottom of the ninth with two outs and two men on.  Oh well, you can't win them all.  At least Brandon Inge didn't strike out to end the game.

Hey Liz,
Happy Belated Birthday! Somehow Rick missed your birthday (I think) but I wasn't there on Labor Day weekend to know if he sang to you or not. If he didn't sing consider that your present:)

Love,
Cindy O
