"You'all come back now, Ya hear!"

Last week my family and I had the pleasure of visiting Liz’s Grandparents and Uncles and Aunts in Kentucky (Eddyville to be exact). Liz’s Pappy and Granny graciously opened their home to our family for the entire week. They fed and sheltered us better than any local hotel. They would get up early to fix our breakfast and then when we came home from being out-and-about they would start early on the some old-fashion southern cooking. One of my favorites was homemade BBQ hoagies…mm, mm!

Although the pace of life is MUCH slower than up here in Michigan we had a BLAST. Liz did lots of shopping with us and her family, the kids enjoyed the freedom of space and I survived being (seemingly) disconnected from the world for a week.

Here are some pictures of the kids riding horses and Zach fishing (see previous post for more on this). Their Uncle Stuart taught each of them, one-by-one, how to turn stop and back-up the horse and then let them ride the horse without any guidance from their Uncle. Needless to say it was pretty cool to see them learning so quickly and riding horses.
Sorry, I don’t have any pictures of Liz shopping but I’m sure she tell you about all the deals she got ;)

Click the above video (click here for a much smaller version) for a video montage I put together of some of the above mentioned activities our family was a part of.

We also were able to see Liz’s Uncle Stuarts mare twin colts. This truly was an amazing thing to see. I didn’t realize at the time that the odds of American Quarters Horses being pregnant with twins is about 9% and much, much less percentage of those horses even gave birth to one colt let alone two live colts. So I guess a congratulation is in order to Liz’s Uncle Stuart, you should see him he’s like a proud papa. Keep a look out all you cowboys and cowgirls, for your next issue of the Western Magazine. Stuart Lipscomb was told that he might be on the cover with a feature article about these amazing twins.

All-in-all we had a great time, we really enjoyed the time away from the hustle and bustle of our speedy life in Michigan.

Thank-you Lipscomb family!

Thanks for putting the pictures and the video on your blog. Looks like the kids had a great time - especially riding the horse. Isabelle is a natural! We were very disappointed that we didn't see any pictures of Jason riding a horse. Then again, I think K-Mart no longer has those horsey-rides outside their stores.
